Dr. Lucie Calderon is a compassionate and highly accomplished gastroenterologist whose path to medicine began at Vanderbilt University, where she graduated cum laude with dual degrees—a Bachelor of Arts in Neuroscience and a Bachelor of Science in French—earning the prestigious Cornelius Vanderbilt Full Tuition Scholarship. She went on to earn her Doctor of Medicine from Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center in New Orleans, where she was recognized for her empathy, integrity, and service with induction into the Gold Humanism Honor Society.
Dr. Calderon completed her internship and residency in Internal Medicine at Emory University in Atlanta, GA, earning a Distinction in Medical Innovations for her collaborative work addressing unmet clinical needs. She then pursued fellowship training in the Division of Digestive Diseases at Emory University, where she served as Chief Gastroenterology Fellow from 2024–2025 and graduated as fellow of the year. She additionally was recognized by the Department of Medicine for embodying the highest standards of professionalism and cross-departmental collaboration and was selected as a HOPE award recipient during her training.
Her clinical expertise is complemented by a strong research background, with numerous peer-reviewed publications and national presentations on complex gastrointestinal disorders, including motility disorders, endoscopic therapies, and innovations in GI procedures. She has been recognized with honors such as the Poster of Distinction at Digestive Disease Week and the Presidential Poster Award from the American College of Gastroenterology.
Beyond her clinical and academic achievements, Dr. Calderon is dedicated to medical education, mentoring future physicians, and advancing gastroenterology through leadership in professional societies such as the American Gastroenterological Association and the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy.
Fluent in French and deeply connected to her Louisiana roots, Dr. Calderon enjoys traveling with her husband and children to visit family in France, exploring culinary traditions (especially cheese), running scenic trails, and upholding her role as founder of a Mardi Gras season “king cake club.” Her blend of expertise, innovation, and genuine care makes her a valued member of the AiG team and a trusted partner in her patients’ health.
